Ed Sheeran with the Offspring on stage for “Million Miles Away”

Ed Sheeran on stage with the Offspring: this is the surprise that Dexter Holland and his associates reserved for the audience at BottleRock Napa Valley during their set.

On stage at the Californian festival last May 26th, the punk rock band invited the British singer-songwriter to play to the amazement of those present. Together with Ed Sheeran, the Offspring proposed their “Million miles away”. As reported by setlist.fm, the song from the group's 2000 album “Conspiracy of one” had not been performed in concert since 2016.

In introducing the “Thinking Out Loud” singer-songwriter, Dexter Holland said: “Ed told us that one of our records was the first CD of his that he ever bought when he was a kid. This really meant a lot to us, so we thought, 'Wow, we'd love for you to come with us on stage.' We'll do one of the songs he wanted to play.”

The Offspring recently invited another surprising guest on stage with them: Brian May. On stage at the Starmus Festival, a science and art event founded by the Queen guitarist together with Garik Israelian, last May 15th Holland and his companions had the honor of performing together with the same former friend of Freddie Mercury and with him they proposed a cover of “Stone cold crazy” by the British band.

In our area the Offspring, record-wise stuck with “Let the bad times roll” (read our interview here and review here), released nine years after “Days go by”, will return to play in concert on August 21, 2024 at the AMA Music Festival at Villa Ca' Cornaro in Romano d'Ezzelino.
