Ed Sheeran releases his Christmas song

In the past few days Ed Sheeran had triggered a controversy with Bob Geldof who had inserted the English singer’s voice in the 40th anniversary version of “Do They Know It’s Christmas Time?” without asking him for authorization which he would politely deny, no longer having confidence in the operation.

The new mix of the song, produced by Trevor Hornbrings together all the voices of the three versions of the song, recorded in 1984, 2004 and 2014. The English singer appears in the last one, the one published in 2014 for the 30th anniversary of the project.

After the controversy, which still continues, today Sheeran shared his new song “Under The Tree“, recorded for the soundtrack of the upcoming Netflix holiday film “That Christmas”. On Instagram, Sheeran writes: “This song was written about a character in the film who wants to spend Christmas with his father, but can’t. It’s a heartbreaking scene, and something so many people face every year being alone at Christmas.”

It sounds just like Ed Sheeran’s Christmas song.

In addition to the music, Sheeran is making headlines on the internet in these hours for a break in the television “protocol” that occurred after the Ipswitch Manchester United match when Sheeran approached to hug the Sky football analyst Jamie Redknapp after the teams they had drawn 1-1 on Sunday. Sheeran is a fan and minority owner of Ipswitch (and now also deals with the market as reported here) and this affectionate meeting between the singer and the journalist took place live on TV in the middle of a post-match interview with the new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.

Sheeran reportedly apologized on Instagram, writing: “Sorry if I offended Amorim yesterday, I actually didn’t realize they were interviewing him at the time, I was popping in to say hello and goodbye to Jamie. Obviously I feel a bit of a pain in the ass, but life goes on. However, it was a good match, congratulations to everyone.”
