Davide Van De Sfroos: 25 Years of Career in 49 Songs
David Van De Sfroos announced the publication, next November 1st, of “Van De Best”, not the usual best of but a real collection wanted to celebrate his 25 years of solo career. “VAN DE BEST”, to be released by BMG/MyNina, will contain 49 of the most famous songs published from 1999 to 2015 and re-engraved in order to make them available to the public again.
It is the storyteller of Lake Como who explains the reason for this exit:
I decided to take a trip back on the path of my musical journey. I chose 49 of my songs that I re-sung and re-played with the help of a myriad of musicians and three recording studios that worked simultaneously. A very meticulous work that allowed us to re-propose many songs from the past respecting their spirit and structure but giving them the authenticity of the present and the sound of this time.
Beyond music There will also be more in the box: “Inside – says the singer-songwriter – it is not a simple booklet, but a collection of pages in the exact style of my notebooks, created exclusively with unpublished material, drawings and photos.”
To anticipate the release, starting today, a track of “Van De Best”.
The first could only be “Yanez”the single released on February 16, 2011 on the occasion of the participation of David Van De Sfroos at the 61st edition of the Sanremo Festival.
The song, included in the album of the same name, came fourth at the festival, giving the singer-songwriter great public success and a gold record.
I wrote Yanez on a September evening that I could define as bittersweet. I had dinner on the balcony with a friend, my family had remained on the Adriatic coast in Cesenatico, the place where I spent my childhood as a sailor. When my host left I remained there, on the balcony, alone with the guitar and I mixed a bit of nostalgia and a bit of good memories of those places, thinking mainly of my father who was a big fan of Salgari’s hero and who had spent a lot of time in Cesenatico before setting sail.
I never considered it a sad song because for me it was an important tribute to some salty and unforgettable years.
