David Gilmour: "I'm planning to make another album"

David Gilmour: This is the best band I’ve ever played with

Interviewed by New York radio station Q1043, a David Gilmour was asked to talk about the musical collaborations he had during his splendid career: Pink Floyd, Pete Townshend, Paul McCartney, David Crosby And Graham Nashto name a few, and if he ever told his current band about the tour, ‘Luck and Strange’who were the best musicians he had ever played with.

The 79-year-old British musician replied slyly: “I think they heard it. I think I explained it pretty well myself. I should have done it, I think, and said, ‘You’re the best band I’ve ever played with.'”

The guitarist then explained what distinguishes his current tour band from the many prestigious occasions in which he has had the opportunity to play with true music legends. “Let me explain, playing with a legend like McCartney or Pete Townshend or having the lovely Crosby and Nash on stage with you and Bowie. Those are just wonderful and unforgettable moments, but they’re not the same as having a band of guys who live and breathe your music and support you, carrying that weight every night on a tour.”

The tour band of David Gilmour is composed of Guy Pratt on the bass, Adam Betts on the battery, Rob Gentry And Greg Phillinganes on keyboards, Ben Worsley on the guitar and by the backing singers Louise Marshall, Charley Webb And Hattie Webb. The tour promoted the member’s latest solo album Pink Floyd “Luck and Strange” (read the review here), released on September 6, 2024.

The tour was a success and was both documented with a live album “The Luck and Strange Concerts” (read the review here) than with the film “Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome” (read the review here).
