David Bowie: practical guide to the non-exhibition in London

David Bowie, yet another documentary announced

One was announced at the beginning of October, produced by the BBC and centered on the Berlin years, and another one is already announced, this time by Channel Four: “The final act” (the title is provisional) will tell the story of the last years of the artist’s life, through interviews with those who frequented Bowie and worked with him in the final part of his career, as well as with artists who drew inspiration from his work. According to what was communicated by Channel Four, the intent is

“…reveal the strategy behind Bowie’s artistic resurrection and the unfailingly extraordinary creativity that defined his final decade, in which he released his album “Blackstar” just two days before his death.”

Director Jonathan Stiasny adds:

“Traditional traditional music documentaries celebrate triumph. What fascinated me most during the making of this film was that Bowie’s final chapter was not an end, but a resurrection. He transformed failure into triumph, silence into revelation, and, finally, death into art.”

Shaminder Nahal, Channel 4 executive, concludes:

“Bowie was one of those rare artists whose imagination never dimmed. This film reveals how, when faced with the end, he found a way to push boundaries and create something transcendent.”

The 90-minute documentary will be made by Rogan Productions, previously behind “Freddie Mercury: The Final Act” and “ABBA: Against the Odds.”
