Dave Navarro and Taylor Hawkins' 'Lost' Album

Dave Navarro and Taylor Hawkins’ ‘Lost’ Album

There is an unreleased album, already mastered and ready for release, by a trio formed by Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, current AC/DC bassist Chris Chaney and the late Taylor Hawkins, Dave Grohl’s alter-ego on drums in the Foo Fighters who passed away prematurely in March 2022. Navarro himself revealed it during an interview with the American edition of Rolling Stone.

The band – named NHC, from the initials of the surnames of the artists involved in the project – had begun to take its first steps towards the end of 2021. Unfortunately, a few months later, on March 25, 2022, Hawkins was found lifeless in his hotel room in Bogotá, where the Foo Fighters were expected at the Estéreo Picnic festival.

“After he died, I didn’t touch the guitar for a long time,” Navarro explained to Rolling Stone. “It was a long time ago because it was one of the most painful losses of my life.”

During their very short existence, NHC have found time to write and record a handful of unreleased songs, which could one day surface on the market as an official release. However, Navarro hasn’t felt like committing himself as to when that might happen.

“We have a completed album, already mastered, but it might be a little early for release,” Navarro explained. “I don’t know exactly where it is, but I really think it deserves to be released, because – the way I see it – that record shows what a complete and brilliant musician Taylor was, having written most of the songs and having sung as well as played the drums.”

“I really think his ability deserves to be known and appreciated,” concluded the guitarist: “So I really hope that one day it can come out. Recording that album with him was one of the happiest experiences of my life: since then I have not been able to listen to it anymore…”.
