Darkness releases second single from upcoming album

After the first preview with ‘The Longest Kiss’ (Read here) The Darkness present “I Hate Myself“, the new single taken from “Dreams On Toast”the eighth album arriving on March 28th on the Cooking Vinyl label.

Full of punk-rock glamour, I Hate Myself‘ sees Justin Hawkins in self-deprecating mode, as he talks about the end of a relationship while pointing the finger at himself.

Regarding the single, Justin Hawkins says:

Finally, a joyous, boisterous celebration of self-hatred. I think that without regrets we learn less from our experiences: to deny them and compartmentalize them is to deny ourselves the opportunity to grow. It’s time for us to sing this uplifting ode to remorse, in hopes of not making the same mistakes again.

Fans in England will be able to watch an exclusive live performance today by I Hate My Self’ during the second of six concerts intimate and all sold out which take place inside the shops by Rought Trade, scheduled this week in London, Nottingham and Liverpool.

On these occasions The Darkness they will play the songs from the new album live for the first time ‘Dreams On Toast‘, while a larger tour is planned for March which will see the band headline 18 dates in the UK.

The historic Ash, who supported, opened the concerts The Darkness for the first time on the tour that accompanied the release of ‘Permission To Land Tourover 20 years ago.

As for the Italian public, we will have to wait until August 2, 2025when Darkness will be protagonists on stage at the Majano Festival (UD).

Last week Taylor Swift sang the band’s hit, “I Believe In A Thing Called Love‘ (2003) while attending the US Open in New York. After that performance the song returned to the top of rock charts around the world, reaching #1 on the Rock iTunes Chart in the United States, 21 years after its release.
