Cyndi Lauper made a surprise performance with Nicki Minaj at her show
Last May 1st the tour of Nicki Minaj “Pink Friday 2 World Tour,” in support of her 2023 fifth studio album “Pink Friday 2,” made a stop at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. During the evening, late in the show, the 41-year-old rapper invited perform with her as a surprise Cyndi Lauper.
The two artists together performed Nicki Minaj's song “Pink Friday Girls“, which contains a sampling of the famous “Girls Just want to have fun” by Lauper.
Visibly emotional at the end of the performance, as evidenced by some videos shared online, Minaj bowed to the singer and told the audience: “I've been talking about this woman in my interviews since I started rapping.” And again: “I never thought in a million years that I would be back rapping in New York with Cyndi Lauper.”
The rapper then recalled that she “cried” while listening to Cyndi Lauper's “True Colors”, of which the two then sang a fragment together.
After the North American leg of the tour, Nicki Minaj will return to Europe at the end of May with dates in Amsterdam, London, Paris, Berlin and also a concert scheduled in Milan for July 3rd.
