Cure: The “little announcements” on social media for the new album continue
The policy of “small steps” continues for the launch of the band’s new album Robert Smith who hasn’t released a studio album since 2008’s “4:13 Dream.” In recent weeks, the Care They announced the new album on social media before sending fans postcards confirming the album’s title and release date (November 1). They also put up a poster “Songs Of A Lost World” (the album title) in the pub in Crawley, the town where Smith grew up and where they played their first gig.
Today the band posted a new teaser video on their official Instagram account, featuring a projected stone head (believed to be the artwork for the new album) once again revealing the title of the upcoming album and its release date in Roman numerals, alongside images of the seaside town (including its tower) of Blackpool in Lancashire.
The post caption includes the website SONGSOFALOST.WORLD (Read here) and “53.8159° N, 3.0552° W”, which are the coordinates of Blackpool Tower, leading fans to speculate that the band may be planning a concert in the town, perhaps at the Empress Ballroom.
Blackpool is also where Smith was born, before his family moved to Crawley when he was six. This could be an element that fits into the themes of life and mortality that are supposed to be explored in the upcoming album.
“A Cure concert in the ballroom would be amazing,” one fan wrote in the comments section of the Instagram post, while another shared: “This is definitely symbolic, the Railway Pub, Blackpool Robert’s birthplace, this could be the last album and tour.”
The new clip comes after they were spotted new billboards in Rome, Paris and New York which featured the album title and the image of a stone with a face.
