Cure releases three limited edition versions of “Boys Don’t Cry”
“Boys Don’t Cry” of the Care it was the band’s first song to reach one billion streams on Spotify. To celebrate, the song is re-released in three Limited Edition versions: on 12″, 7″ vinyl and CD, in addition of course to its availability on streaming platforms. Preorder here.
Initially released as a single in the summer of 1979, “Boys Don’t Cry” became the lead track on the US edition of the band’s debut album, “Three Imaginary Boys”.
It can be considered one of the band’s symbolic tracks, it reached international success in 1986, when Robert Smith he re-recorded the vocals and remixed the backing track. Although this new version was created to promote the collection “Staring At The Sea – The Singles”the LP itself contained the original recording, and the 7-inch version of “Boys Don’t Cry (New Voice – New Mix)”now renamed “Boys Don’t Cry (86 Mix)”is published digitally for the first time today. The remastering was done by Matt Colton.
