Cristiano De André: “For my father, good powers did not exist”

Cristiano DeAndre a few weeks ago he announced the “De André #DeAndré – Best Of Live Tour”a tribute to his father Fabrizio, 25 years after his death. The 61-year-old Genoese musician will be accompanied on stage by Oswald of God to the guitars, David Pezzin on the bass, Luciano Luisi on the keyboards and Ivan Zanotti on drums. Cristiano plays acoustic and classical guitar, bouzouky, piano and violin. Here is the updated calendar.

De Andrè, interviewed by Ansa, recalled that this is a special year because it is the 25th since his father’s death, then he spoke about the songs that make up the concert’s setlist, a two and a half hour journey into Faber’s work: “These are works – he explained – that tell a beautiful piece of the history of our country, from the mid-sixties to the new century. During the last tour we did together, the ‘Anime Salve’ one, he would have wanted me, after the arrangements I had made for some songs, to take up other works of his to give it a new dress, a new vitality. Then unfortunately what we all know happened and everything had to be interrupted. However, after a few years I took courage and did it”. “There is a common thread – he concluded – that links my father’s songs from the first to the last and it is the coherence, the point of view of someone who is always on the side of the excluded. He taught us that there are no good powers and that only love, compassion and recognition in the weakest can save man and consequently the world”.
