Corinaldo, the managers of the restaurant were acquitted of the most serious crimes
The second trial for the Corinaldo massacre has concluded, relating to the events of the night of 8 December 2018 when, before a DJ set by Sfera Ebbasta at the Lanterna Azzurra, six people lost their lives due to the collapse of some balustrades after a band from Modena of robbers – already convicted in the first instance – sprayed pepper spray inside the nightclub, triggering panic.
In this branch of the proceedings, 8 defendants were in the dock, including managers of the venue, owners of the Lanterna Azzurra nightclub and security personnel: according to what the agencies report, all acquitted of the most serious charges because the fact does not exist, including the security managers and the signatories of authorizations. The former mayor Principi was sentenced to 4 months for the crime of forgery, as well as Rodolfo Milani (firefighter) and Francesco Tarsi (engineer), but with suspended sentences. Damage claims rejected. Extremely harsh reaction from the victims' relatives, who spoke of a “new murder”.
That evening, according to the data collected by the investigators, there were 1,032 people inside the room, more than double the permitted capacity (which provided for a maximum of 459 people). The organizers were criticized for having printed 6,000 pre-sales for the evening, which included two DJ sets, one in Rimini and the other in Corinaldo, as well as various other complaints
