Coldplay: Here's What We Know About "A Film For The Future"

Coldplay reprints their albums with recycled bottles

Coldplay decided to reprint their historical vinyl albums. But not using the PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, the material that has always been used for the production of acetates. Chris Martin and associates have decided to reprint the discs using recycled plastic bottles, through an injection molding technology “which reduces carbon emissions during the production of as many as 85% compared to the traditional production of vinyl”. The format has already been renamed Ecorecord: “It sounds and has the same quality as a traditional vinyl disc, but it was produced using Tereftolato Polyethylene (PET) 100%recycled, a light and resistant material, easily recyclable and designed for a circular economy, contributing significantly to the reduction of transport emissions and environmental impact at the end of life”.

For some time engaged in sustainability – in their shows, among other things, the energy is obtained from an electric battery system and is generated from alternative electric vehicles and fuels everywhere possible – the Coldplay have made it known that each Ellepì, which will weigh 140 grams, was made by recycling an average of nine Pet plastic bottles. “These bottles are recovered as part of a process known as post-consumer recycling (PCR), where they are cleaned, transformed into small pellets and therefore printed into new items. While the ecorecords can be made both in a virgin Pet and recycled pet (Rpet), the Coldplay have chosen to use only Rpet for all their Ecorecord products”, reads the press release spread by the band.

Moreover, already “Moon Music”, the latest album of the group of “Viva La Vida”; Last year was the first album in the world published on LP Ecorecord with recycled plastic.

Jen Ivory, CEO of Parlophone, comments: “We are incredibly proud to collaborate with artists such as the Coldplay who share our commitment for a more sustainable future for music. The transition to Ecorecord LP for their exits is a testimony of what is possible when innovation meets the intention. It is not just a new product; it is a pioneering production that significantly reduces significantly The environmental impact, offering fans the same high quality audio experience and at the same time stable a new standard for physical music production. “

The reissued discs in Ecorecord are “Parachutes”, “A Rush of Blood to the Head”, “X & Y”, “Long live the Vida or Death and all his friends”, “Mylo Xyloto”, “Ghost Stories”, “A head Full of Dreams”, “Everyday life” and “Music of the Spheres”.
