Coldplay: first Italian date yesterday in Rome. Setlist and photos
After the double concert in Naples and the four dates in Milan at the end of June last year, the Coldplay they return to Italy, for four concerts at the Olimpico in Rome (12, 13 and 15, 16 July), stages of the “Music of the Spheres Tour” which sees them perform all over the world.
Last night Coldplay made their debut at the Stadio Olimpico in the first of the live shows planned in the capital where Chris Martin’s band also proposed the world premiere of a new song that will be part of the next album
The concert of the tour, inspired by the album of the same name, is divided into three parts: planets, moons and stars and is full of spectacular effects, confetti, fireworks and luminous bracelets. The audience itself provides (part of) the electricity to the concert by pedaling and dancing, thus generating energy.
The theme of diversity and tolerance proposed by the English band is expressed through the tour’s motto, “Everyone is an alien somewhere” and is brought back to the stage through the presence of aliens on stage.
During the show, Coldplay performed songs such as “Higher Power“, “Adventure of a Lifetime“, “Paradise” And “The Scientist“. Chris Martin interacts with the audience, greets in Italian and recalls their first concert in Rome twenty-one years ago.
The now customary intervention of a fan on stage is not missing. Martin and the lucky spectator together perform a piano version of “Magic”
Even in Rome the sound tribute to the city that hosts them arrives inevitably
In the final, more intimate and acoustic part, called “Home“, Coldplay perform “Sparks” and dedicate improvised songs to the audience, including Roger Federer (present in the audience and framed on screen) and Chris’s brother.
There is also room for a “world premiere”. In fact, they perform “Good Feeling”, further extract from their album “Moon Music”, to be released in October 2024, and then conclude with the new single “feelslikefallinginlove”.
