Coldplay: a “patchwork” film inspired by the album “Moon Music”
THE Coldplay have announced a new project titled “A Film For The Future“, a 44-minute film that accompanies their album “Moon Music“, which recently became number 1 worldwide.
The film will premiere on YouTube on January 22ndaccompanied by special 360-degree screenings at the Lightroom in London, Manchester and Seoul.
Additionally, a remix site for the film, powered by Microsoft’s artificial intelligence, will launch on January 22, allowing fans to interact with the film in unique ways.
The project was inspired by a clue present in the album artwork “Everyday Life” from 2019 and from an excerpt that appeared in the single’s lyric video “feelslikeimfallinginlove” of the band.
The film was made by over 150 visual artists from 45 countries, who created works inspired by musical fragments from “Moon Music” without knowing the other artists’ creations. Ben Mor, the executive producer, described the result as “a kaleidoscopic patchwork quilt”, highlighting the exceptional collaboration between animators and directors.
Coldplay expressed gratitude towards the artists involved, stating that they were extremely proud of the work achieved. Projections at the Lightroom will offer an immersive experience thanks to advanced audio technologies and projections on four walls and the floor.
Additionally, the band has partnered with Microsoft to develop an interactive remix experience powered by AI, which will allow fans to create unique remixes of the film. Using Microsoft Copilot and Azure AI, the site will dynamically assemble film content, ensuring every experience is different.
In parallel, the world tour “Music Of The Spheres” by Coldplay has resumed, with already sold-out shows scheduled for 2025. The tour has already sold over 12 million tickets, making it the highest-attended tour ever. The band has also won recognition for its efforts to sustainability, reducing CO2e emissions by 59% compared to the previous tour and planting over 9 million trees worldwide.
