The tour starts on may 22 to 'Le poisson rouge' by New York – splendid multifunctional structure in the heart of the Big Apple, temple of independent music – to continue in Canada, a Montrealwhere Carmen and the Orchestra will perform on May 24th within the Au Galop Festival, the festival with the artistic direction of Marco Calliari, an Italian-Canadian singer-songwriter who has been one of the major promoters of artistic exchanges between Canadian and Italian musicians for years.
The tour then returns to the United States, with two Californian concerts: May 28th at the 'Club Fugazi' of San Francisco and the May 29th to the historic 'Whisky a go go' of Los Angeles.
The 31 May the last stop of the tour is in Florida, at the Institute of Italian Culture You love mewhere it will once again demonstrate the high artistic value of the traditional Sicilian heritage.
After the very first performances in 2004 Carmen returned to play overseas for more than fifty concerts. Carmen Consoli continued to promote Italian culture and Sicilian music and traditions gathering more and more support among the American public. Already at one of her first New York concerts, Jon Pareles, the great music critic of the New York Times, defined her as “A magnificent combination of a rocker and an intellectual… a voice full of pain, compassion and strength”; The New Yorker echoed this, writing that she “has a beautiful voice and her passionate songs need no translation.”
Elvis Costello himself saw her perform in America and that's where the on-stage collaboration the two had last summer was born. «She has more original ideas in a handful of pieces than some celebrated English or American bands in an entire concert». This is Elvis Costello's statement, released to the New York Times in 2006 after seeing it live.
Before Costello, other international artists also noticed her. David Byrne had chosen her to participate in his Meltdown Festival in 2015, while with Robert Plant had shared the stage of the Lucca Summer Festival 2022, last July she was selected as the Italian representative at the Womad Festival Of Peter Gabriel.
