Caparezza: “Orbit Orbit” marks the return after silence
After four years of recording silence, Caparezza returns with a new album: “Orbit Orbit”, out on October 31st. The album officially marks the return of the Apulian rapper after 2021’s “Exuvia”, the acclaimed concept album that closed a personal and artistic cycle. The announcement arrived on the artist’s official channels, accompanied by a teaser in full Caparezza style: a planet that rotates on itself and a voice that invites us to “return to orbit”. A message that heralds a project with strong spatial and conceptual connotations, where the title “Orbit Orbit” seems to allude to a cyclical movement, to a return to balance after a long period of silence. The first single released is “Io sono il viaggio”. The wait for Caparezza’s new album is electric. After the end of the “Exuvia” tour, the artist announced a break from performing live due to his parents hearing problems, especially chronic tinnitus which forced him to moderate live performances.
Caparezza (stage name of Michele Salvemini) had shared only sporadic reflections on his state of health, describing the difficulty of living with the disorder but also the desire to return to creating. In a post he wrote: “I learned to be silent, but silence brought me back to sound. Now I want to get back into orbit, even if the universe has changed”. Words that confirm the rebirth of an artist who has always transformed his own fragilities into creative material. As per tradition, “Orbit Orbit” also promises to be a sort of concept album, an allegorical journey in which each song represents a planet, an orbit, or the stage of a journey of personal and collective rediscovery. The spatial theme seems to act as a metaphor for distance, solitude and the return to the essential, but also for a new connection with oneself and with the world.
Caparezza, always a master in building complex narrative universes (from “Museica” to “Prisoner 709”), he could therefore bring his ironic and visionary language towards new sonic galaxies, mixing electronic, rap and songwriting with the usual density of historical, philosophical and pop references. There will also be a live return: a tour in 2026. A special occasion, twenty dates that promise to be unique. On the occasion of the release of the new album, Caparezza also made his debut as a comics author, in collaboration with Sergio Bonelli Editore. At the same time as the album, “Orbit Orbit” will arrive in bookstores and comic shops. the comic that accompanies and completes the new album.
