Bruce Springsteen: “I’m not even thinking about a farewell tour”
In recent years, many rock artists have announced, undertaken, and completed (more or less on schedule) their farewell tours.
Bruce Springsteen is not one of them, and he has no plans to do so in the future. “We’ve been around for 50 fucking years and we’re not giving up!” he said during Friday night’s concert in Philadelphia. “We’re not doing no bullshit farewell tour! For Christ’s sake! No E Street Band farewell tour! Goodbye to what? A thousand people screaming your name? Get the fuck out of here. I’m not going anywhere!”
Already a few days ago Little Stevenin an interview given to the British newspaper The Telegraph, had announced that Springsteen had no intention of retiring and going into retirement (Read here)
Bruce isn’t giving up, even though Springsteen’s tours haven’t exactly gone according to plan in recent years. In 2023, he was forced to postpone a total of 20 shows while he underwent treatment for peptic ulcer disease. Then, in May of this year, a vocal problem forced him to postpone several European shows (including the two shows in Milan). “My diaphragm was hurting so much that when I was trying to sing, it was killing me, you know?” he explained to SiriusXM’s E Street Radio. “So, I literally couldn’t sing and that went on for two or three months, along with a myriad of other painful issues.”
On June 12th at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid he resumed his tours (Read here) and has been on the road ever since and since August 15th in Pittsburgh he opened the US leg of the tour (Read here). His next show is scheduled for September 7 in Washington.
