Britney Spears Didn’t Like Halsey’s Video. Then She Changes Her Mind

Friday Halsey presented his new single “Lucky“, which takes up the 2000 song of the same name by Britney Spears and the 1997 hit of Monica “Angel Of Mine”. Along with the single, she released a music video that Spears initially didn’t take well.

On X, the pop star of “Baby One More Time” did not appreciate the video and its clear references and posted a vitriolic tweet, later deleted, in which she said she felt “harassed, violated and mistreated”.

“For obvious reasons I am very upset by Halsey’s video,” the 42-year-old pop veteran wrote. “I feel harassed, violated and bullied. I never thought an artist like her and someone I looked up to and admired would portray me in such an ignorant way, making me look like a shallow pop star with no heart or concern whatsoever.”

“I have my own health issues and that’s why I closed my IG account yesterday. I will definitely put it back up to show that I care,” she continued. “I will talk to my lawyers today to see what can be done about this. It seems illegal and cruel.”

Halsey’s music video, directed by Gia Coppola, portrays herself as a famous pop star privately struggling with her health. Halsey recently revealed that she has been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus and T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. A representative for Spears said that Spears has heard the song and given it her approval.

Spears deleted the tweet and then posted another, saying it was “fake news” and “that wasn’t me on my phone.” She added, “I love Halsey and that’s why I deleted it!!!” Halsey responded, “I love Britney!!!! I always have and always will, you were the first person to make me understand what it means to be inspired. And you continue to inspire me every day.”

Peace thus returns between the two.
