Brian Wilson shock: “He has dementia”. The family is asking for guardianship
Brian Wilson is not well. The 81-year-old singer and co-founder of the legendary Beach Boys suffers from dementia and his family said they had requested guardianship. Agent Jean Sievers broke the news, announcing that the rock icon had been “diagnosed with senile dementia”. The decision by Brian Wilson’s family to seek guardianship was made following the death of his wife Melinda Wilson in January, “after careful consideration and consultation between Brian, his seven children and his doctors.”
The request, presented in a Los Angeles court, will however have to be ratified by a judge. Wilson reportedly suffers from a “severe neurocognitive disorder” and is “unable to meet his personal physical health needs.”
