Brian May: How he’s getting back to playing after his stroke
Last September, Brian May revealed to fans that he had suffered a stroke and lost control of one arm. The Queen guitarist wasted no time to reassure the public and new reassuring updates on his recovery then arrived from his wife Anita Dobson.
Despite the temporary loss of control of a limb, the six-string player of the band once led by Freddie Mercury had heartened fans by saying he was still able to play the guitar. Now, further updates on Brian May’s health status come again from Anita Dobson, who in a recent interview also told how the musician is starting to play again after the stroke. Last December 3, May’s wife said at the TRIC Awards Christmas luncheon, where she was honored with an award: “He’s much better now, he’s stabilized, which is great.”
As reported by the Mirror and reported by other magazines, Anita Dobson then spoke about Brian May’s return to playing, saying: “He’s regained the use of that arm, which was a bit of a challenge. So, yes, he’s fine now He plays the piano a lot at home. He really likes Beethoven: the piano at home is relaxing. He didn’t actually try to play an instrument until he got better an acoustic guitar and gradually train the muscles. Which regained mobility very quickly.”
Dobson added: “It’s just re-educating the messages from the brain to the arm. His brain is overloaded, that’s what it is. He’s too smart for his own good.”
