Brian Eno unveils the first artists for “Together for Palestine”
On September 17th, Wembley’s Ovo Arena will host “Together for Palestine”, a great charity concert conceived by Brian Eno to raise funds for the Palestinian population. All the proceeds will be destined for Choose Lovea humanitarian organization that works directly with local realities a Gaza To provide food, medicines and other essential aid. Alongside Eno there will be Damon Albarnwho wanted to make a direct contribution with his music and his message. “Pacifism is an action. Peace is an action“, he said.
“This is time to do something,” is one of the mantras of the appointment. The sense of the event is precisely this: to use music to react to a situation. As Eno explained, “remain silent in the face of what happens to Gaza is equivalent to being accomplices”. The cast is large and crosses several generations and musical styles. In addition to Albarn and Eno, artists like Jamie XX, King Krule, James Blake, Sampha, Hot Chip, Bastille, Paloma Faith, Greentea Peng, Mabel, Cat Burns and Rachel Chinouriri. There will also be Palestinian musicians, such as Adnan Joubran, Faraj Suleiman and Nai Barghouti. Some special guests will make unique apparitions, including Riz Ahmed, Rina Sawayama and PinkPantheress.
The event will not be just a concertbut also an artistic space designed to tell the Palestinian culture. The scenography will be curated by ES Devlin, in collaboration with the visual artist Malak Mattar. The idea is to create an experience that makes you think, not only to entertain. In a musical world where public positions can easily generate controversy, “Together for Palestine” chooses to put solidarity in the center, without ambiguity. It is a way to use music as an instrument of awareness and to offer concrete support to those who live a humanitarian crisis.
