Boy George Biopic in the Works
According to Deadline, a new biopic which will focus on the story of Boy George. As reported by the online film magazine, TriStar has hired JC Lee to write the screenplay for the film currently in development. The film, which will see the 63-year-old musician himself serve as an executive producer, will be produced by Oscar-winning producer Cathy Schulman, George’s manager Paul Kemsley, Jeremy M. Rosen and Kevin King Templeton along with Primary Wave Music.
The biopic, still in its early stages of production, will include both Boy George’s songsmusical icon of the 80s, that those of his Culture Clubsof which Primary Wave Music holds the rights. The plot will adapt the autobiographies written over the years by the voice of “Do you really want to hurt me” – “Take it like a man” from 1995, “Straight” from 2005 and “Karma” from 2023 – and will focus on the highly successful years of the historic English team.
It was announced in 2019 that Metro Goldwyn Mayer had put a biopic about Boy George into production. Two years later, the project, tentatively titled “Karma Chameleon,” was picked up by Millennium Media, but never saw the light of day.
