Are Tool in talks for a residency at Sphere?
THE Tools they dream big: a residency in one of the most sought-after locations in the world, lo Sphere. The American prog metal band would be in negotiations with the famous Las Vegas sphere for a series of concerts in 2027, which could coincide with the release of a new album.
The drummer of the group talks about it, Danny Careyin a new interview with “Spiral Out”: “We’re working on a lot of new Tool songs right now.” Carey therefore confirms that the musicians are working on the follow-up to their latest LP, ” Fear Inoculum “, released in 2019.
In the interview, the “cinematic” aspect of the band is underlined, especially with regards to the visual spectacle of their concerts: “Yes, we care a lot about it. We hope, when we release the new album, to make a trip to the Sphere, because we are the perfect band for that. We talked to those guys.”
“The preparation” necessary to complete a residency at Sphere is “quite intense“: “It’s a very expensive business and it takes a while to get profitable. I think (you have to play) quite a few shows before you get anywhere.”
Asked if he’d ever been to the Sphere, Danny replied, “Yeah, I’ve just visited. I haven’t seen a full show, but they took us around to show it. It’s amazing, man. I almost got dizzy.” But Tool isn’t the only metal band to have been associated with the Sphere: rumors have emerged that Metallica are close to signing a deal for 2027.
