“All You Need Is Hate”, Spanish bible on industrial music

“All You Need Is Hate”the new title that will be published Against. It is a reference book to immerse ourselves in the world of industrial music and the entire subculture around it.

Subtitled “Noise, subversion and cultural terrorism in industrial music”, “All You Need Is Hate” It treats from a multifaceted perspective one of the most transgressive and radical movements in the history of rock. We talk about industrial music.

And what do we mean? Well, to that subculture in which “sound experimentation, aesthetic provocation, critical thinking, activism and visual arts converged.”

The book begins its journey with Throbbing Gristle and the Industrial Records label, without forgetting COUM Transmissions. From there we will talk about artists such as Cabaret Voltaire, NON, SPK, Nocturnal Emissions, Lustmord, Whitehouse, Sutcliffe Jugend or Ramleh, reviewing the different faces of a movement that has evolved over the years and that continues on the margins of music, generating rebellion and activism from the barricades.

Daniel Sedcontra (Barcelona) is a musician, writer and philosopher. As a writer and philosopher, his thoughts move between French philosophy with Nietzschean roots, Christian spirituality and those most disruptive manifestations and figures of Western culture. He has written various articles on industrial music in magazines such as Agente Provocador, Rockdelux, Marabunta or Self.

As a veteran musician of the Barcelona alternative scene, he was part of the iconoclast-noise duo Oscar Abril Ascaso + Sedcontra (1990-1995), whose live performances are remembered for their destructive and nihilistic nature. In a second stage, both returned as a “philosophical French chanson” project (2004-2009). Next, Sedcontra led the band Why Jeanette (2010-2017), a project that reinterpreted Jeanette’s repertoire in a dark post-punk key. At the same time, he has developed a solo career in the field of sound experimentation and noise that extends to the present day.
