Aerosmith: Tom Hamilton on Steven Tyler and the future of the band

In a recent interview Tom Hamilton discussed the future of Aerosmith and said that the band could “do something” next, if frontman Steven Tyler was willing.

After the news of the US band’s withdrawal from tours due to Tyler’s vocal problems, making the concert held in New York in September 2023 the group’s last, the bassist has now spoken to the microphones of the Boston radio station “WBUR” about the hopes for the future of the band. During the chat, Hamilton explained that although Tyler is continuing with his “healing process,” it is unlikely that there will be any new announcements from Aerosmith.

“Steven’s recovery process is going really, really well, but it’s on its own time,” said Tom Hamilton: “Maybe Aerosmith will do something in the future, but that’s a big ‘if,’ and the last thing I want It’s pushing Steven in that direction. If we do anything, it’s his decision.”

The comments come after the bassist was asked last summer how confident he was, on a scale of one to ten, about a possible band reunion. “On the hope scale, I’m between seven and nine. We won’t be touring anymore, but I’ll continue to hope that other opportunities will present themselves,” he told AARP, adding: “It’s not the first time we’ve seen dark clouds on the horizon – and somehow the sun has always managed to return. Time and hope are all we have right now.”
