Aerosmith: “There will be no replacement for Steven Tyler”

Tom Hamiltonthe bassist of the Aerosmithhas spoken about what the future of the iconic 80s band could look like. The group recently confirmed that their live activity has come to an end, after frontman Steven Tyler he seriously damaged his vocal apparatus during a concert.

The last concert was held at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on September 9, 2023, and no one – including the band themselves – knew it would be their last.

The “Peace Out” tour kicked off last year, but the band only played three nights before rescheduling the rest of the dates after Tyler injured his larynx. However, the singer’s condition prevented any more live performances, and the rest of the tour was canceled.

Now, after confirming they will no longer be playing live, Tom Hamilton has spoken out about what the future of the band might look like.

“First let me clarify some information about Steven’s injury. Last September we were playing the third show of our ‘Peace Out’ tour. During the third song of the set, Steven took a fall that resulted in a fractured larynx. Somehow he made it through the show. Don’t ask me how. It’s a testament to his strength and desire to give the people what they came for,” he began in a rare email interview with Charlie Kendall’s Metalshop.

“It wasn’t a throat injury from something wrong. He was healing well and working his ass off to get back on tour, but it just wasn’t possible.”

He continued: “The decision was made by the team that includes the band and our dedicated management. We don’t know what the future holds, but it will not include touring.”

He was also asked if the band would consider touring with a replacement singer in the future – an idea that was quickly shot down by the musician. “There’s never been any talk of touring with another singer. I can’t imagine that,” he said.

“I’m sure we all have music in our future and it will manifest itself in ways we haven’t planned yet,” he added. “I’ve been playing in a band with some good friends. We have a bunch of really cool songs and we’re hoping to put them out soon and do some shows.”

The band’s latest concert has also been made available on YouTube in 4K quality.

Aerosmith’s last studio album was over a decade ago, when the band released “Music From Another Dimension!” in 2012. “We’re All Somebody from Somewhere,” Steven Tyler’s only solo studio album, arrived in 2016.
