Ace Frehley (KISS): his Les Paul sold at auction
The 1975 Les Paul guitar of the late Ace Frehley of KISS has sold at auction for $512,000.
The Les Paul was sold as part of the Music Icon series by Julien’s auction house, which also included items belonging to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kirk Hammett and Izzy Stradlin.
The guitar was used on stage and in the studio with KISS more than any other between 1975 and 1979.
Other Frehley items sold include his 1997 Les Paul Custom, played during the Super Bowl XXXIII pre-game ceremony, for $76,800; a Les Paul played during the 1996 KISS reunion tour, for $57,600; a life-size mannequin in the Destroyer costume worn on stage and autographed sheet music, for $51,200; an acoustic guitar played during KISS’ appearance on “MTV Unplugged” in 1995, for $28,800; a tracksuit given to Frehley by Arthur Kane of the New York Dolls, for $11,520; and a bomber jacket from the era of Rock and Roll Overfor $8,960.
Ace Frehley died at age 74 in October 2025 following a fall in his home office.
