ABBA knighted by the King of Sweden

The ABBA they can now boast the title of 'Knights' or 'First Class Commanders of the Order of Vasa' after having received the honor directly from the King of Sweden. In addition to the band, 13 other people received honors from the Regent of the Swedish Crown.

As ANSA reports, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Björn Ulvaeus they went to the royal palace in Stockholm to receive the honor from King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

“It is Sweden's thanks for your institutional contribution to the world,” the King said in his opening speech, reported by the TT news agency. This year the ABBA celebrating 50 years since they won theEurovision Song Contest in Brighton (England), with their hit “Waterloo”.
