Abraham Laboriel Jr., introduced as the new official drummer of Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam introduced their new drummer, Abraham “Abe” Laboriel Jr.substitute for Matt Cameronduring a surprise appearance at the Ohana Festival. It happened last Friday, September 25, at a concert billed as Eddie Vedder & Friends. While Vedder began his song “Corduroy” on acoustic, the backdrop fell and appeared Mike McCready, Stone Gossard and Jeff Amentwith Laboriel after the battery.

But, in case anyone doubted it, the signing was confirmed when the musician returned to occupy the position on Sunday, September 27, at Pearl Jam’s second concert at the festival, held in Doheny State Beach (California). Between both nights he played songs from different eras such as “Hail Hail”, “Do The Evolution”, “Lukin”, “Porch”, “Jeremy”, “Black” or “Alive”. At Sunday’s concert, Vedder publicly thanked him for joining while the audience chanted his name.

Fifty-five-year-old Laboriel started playing drums as a child and became a session musician for artists such as Sting, Eric Clapton either Lady Gaga. His best-known work is with Paul McCartneywhose band he had been a part of since 2001. On the other hand, he had also worked with Eddie Vedder in “Earthling”his 2022 solo album, and had shared the stage with him and The Earthlings.
