Troye Sivan premieres “Party” with luxury video clip

The pop artist Troy Sivan returns with “Party”, a song that is inspired by the feeling of endless weekends. The song includes a sample of Madonna and you are a guest of none other than Sir Ian McKellen.

The artist himself has said it. “Party” wants to capture the feeling of a night that never ends, moving from one place to the next, without a defined beginning or end. “Dance music sounds very different on a dance floor than it does when it comes out of your laptop speaker. The repetition becomes almost hypnotic, and I wanted to play with the structure that way,” says Sivan.

To shape “Party”, Sivan has used a sample of “Music”, Madonna’s song from 2000. But it also has the collaboration of Luka Kloser, Elvira Anderfjärd, Tove Burman, Leland, Tyde Levi, Rob Feher and Styalz Fuego.

As for the video clip, it has been directed by Gordon von Steiner“When Gordon von Steiner and I were talking about the video and the song, we kept coming back to the idea that partying is actually quite sacred, especially for queer people. Nightlife is often the first place a queer person finds themselves in a room where they are not part of a minority, so It becomes a truly formative and liberating space for many of us. And if letting go is something innate to being human, which I believe it is, then surely people have always gone out to party. We wanted to know what that was like. So we traveled back in time and organized one.” – Troye Sivan

The video begins with the actor’s unmistakable voice Sir Ian McKellenwho first worked with Sivan when he was fourteen, in a production of “Waiting for Godot” in Perth. When they worked together, Sivan was about to tell his mother that he was gay, and seeing an openly gay man living freely, proudly, and successfully left a lasting impression on him. Decades later, inviting McKellen to lend her voice to “Party” became a meaningful connection between two generations and a fitting expression of the queer heritage at the heart of the video.

The song will be part of Sivan’s fourth studio album, “She’s the Best”. which will be officially published on October 9.
