Today, Friday 19 June, the thirtieth anniversary edition of the single “Virtual Insanity” of the Jamiroquaior “Virtual Insanity: 30th Anniversary Edition”. The support is a 12-inch transparent yellow vinyl, already sold out in advance. The limited edition will be available again starting July 17th exclusively on the Sony Music Store at this link.

The song obtained gold certification in Italy, while the album from which it is taken, “Traveling Without Moving“, is certified platinum and is the best-selling funk album in history. The song received a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance, a nomination at the BRIT Awards and the MTV Video of the Year award for the video clip directed by Jonathan Glazer, included by Music Week magazine in the list of “25 music videos that changed the world”.

The song has received over 500 million streams overall. Recent live performances include Jay Kay’s presence at Dua Lipa’s concert at Wembley Stadium last summer and the use of the song as the final track of last autumn’s sports hall tour, which concluded with two dates at the O2 Arena in London.

The tracklist of this reissue follows the original version: side A contains the radio edit of “Virtual Insanity” and the original mix of “Do You Know Where You’re Coming From”, while side B includes “Bullet” and the album version of “Virtual Insanity”.

The text was written by Jay Kay in Sendai, Japan, inspired by the presence of an underground city under the snowy streets; the topics covered concern overpopulation and ecological collapse. The group will return to Japan, among other things, to headline the Summer Sonic in Tokyo and Osaka in August, and is currently in the studio completing their ninth album.
