Bon Jovi is ready to return: “I’m completely recovered”
For a long time, following the delicate vocal cord surgery he underwent in 2022, Jon Bon Jovi he preferred not to make false promises to fans. The band leader was unsure about his ability to sustain the fast pace of a tour again. Today, however, the situation has radically changed: in an interview with “People”, the singer announced that he was “completely healed”archiving one of the darkest periods of his life and confirming the group’s return to the stage in 2026. This declaration marks a clear change of direction compared to recent years, during which the artist feared that his vocal problems could put an end to his live performances.
The first signs of the problem appeared during the band’s last series of concerts. Due to the atrophy of a vocal cord, the frontman was forced to undergo a complex reconstruction and medialization operation. Accepting the diagnosis, the singer confessed, was a very difficult obstacle. From that moment it began a long rehabilitation process: daily speech therapy, targeted and constant exercises, work in close contact with phoniatry specialists.
It was a much slower journey than expected, taking years to show tangible improvements. Still in 2024, in fact, Bon Jovi was still doubtful. He stated at the time that, although he longed to return to tour the following year, he was still in full recovery. The primary objective was Don’t disappoint the audience: he would only get back into the game by guaranteeing the quality that has always characterized the history of the group.
Today uncertainty has given way to enthusiasm. Having recovered his voice after four years of therapy was defined by Jon Bon Jovi as authentic “rebirth”an achievement that required overcoming physical, emotional and professional obstacles. The unconditional support of his teammates played a crucial role in this victory: David Bryan, Tico Torres, Phil X, Hugh McDonald, Everett Bradley and John Shanks, publicly thanked for their trust in the darkest moments. Strengthened by these certainties, the band announced the Forever Tourthe first real series of concerts after the long medical stop. The tour will start from the United States with a long residency in New York between 7 and 26 July, before moving to the largest stadiums in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Despite the impossibility of performing live, Jon Bon Jovi’s creativity has never stopped. 2024 saw the release of “Forever”the group’s new album, driven by the single “Legendary” which serves as a manifesto of this new artistic phase. In parallel, the docuseries was released Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story. This project – in addition to celebrating the band’s forty-year career – showed the world, without filters or censorship, the raw reality of the singer’s vocal problem, documenting medical visits, rehabilitation sessions and moments of profound despair. Recently, the artist has also dedicated himself to re-editing catalog material to keep the connection with fans alive.
