Sparks: a live album coming August 14th
In over fifty years of recording activity, Sparks had so far released only one live album: “Two hands, one mouth: live in Europe”, in March 2013.
Quite surprisingly, therefore, this new album recorded in concert arrives, now available for pre-order in a limited edition moon-coloured marbled double LP, 2CD and download; the first track “Whippings and Apologies (Live On The Moon)” — the original version of which was featured on the 1972 album “A Woofer In Tweeter’s Clothing” — comes out today.
“After the 2025 World Tour, Sparks accepted the invitation to hold a special one-off concert on the Moon, more precisely at the Taruntius crater, near Mare Fecunditatis. Honored to be the first band to perform on the Moon, moreover in the beautiful Taruntius crater, we could never have imagined the interest of the lunar fans: all tickets were purchased within an hour, Coordinated Lunar Time (CLT). Thank you, Luna! And a Huge thanks to Cate Blanchett for finding the time, despite her busy schedule, to accompany us on this trip and act as host at this special concert. Cate was irresistible during the four-day flight of the mission, helping us pass the time with hours of jokes about gravitational pull and the like! So sit back, close your eyes, imagine this wonderful scenery and enjoy Sparks’ first full concert live album, ‘Live On The Moon’.”
