The rock rebellion of Julius Caesar, with Federico Poggipollini
After having captured the public’s attention with songs such as “Rolling Stones”, “Baggio”, “Tenerife” and “Amy (lotus flower)” capable of combining songwriting and cinematographic suggestions, Giulio Cesare inaugurates a new chapter in his artistic journey with “Delirium and destiny” An energetic and visceral pop-rock song that comes out tomorrow for Onirica Dischi and is the result of the collaboration with a standard bearer of Italian rock such as Federico PoggipolliniLuciano’s historic guitarist Ligabue and reference figure of the scene.
Exponent of the Roman school, Julius Caesar – real name Giulio Marchettiborn in 1982 – has built a personal stylistic signature over the years, suspended between songwriting and suggestions that look to cinema, poetry and visual art. With his media presence, the singer-songwriter has been able to carve out an original space for himself in the independent Italian scene, also attracting the attention of people such as Loredana Bertè, Stefano De Martino, Valentina Vignali, Giulia Salemi and Rebecca Staffelli and involving actresses such as Martina Stella and Michela Quattrociocche in his video clips.
Now comes “Delirium and Destiny”, which represents a turning point. The song was born from a personal reflection of the singer-songwriter on his own musical journey. After years spent between writing, producing and promoting, Giulio Cesare felt the need to breaking a routine that risked transforming creativity into a repetitive mechanism. To find new life, his first idea was to form a band, seeking a way out of repetitiveness in sharing and collective energy. Then the artist opted for the perfect middle ground: a exceptional featuring. This is how Giulio Cesare decided to contact Federico Poggipollini, guitarist and historic supporter of Ligabue. “Captain Fede” liked the song right away, and from that understanding was born the collaboration that gave the single “Delirio e destiny” a strong and vibrant rock imprint: «Music sometimes risks turning into a repetitive cycle of production and promotion. Initially the idea was to form a band to break this boredom; then, in order not to waste too much energy, I chose the ideal middle path» he says.
Between electric guitars, nocturnal atmospheres and an emotional tension that grows listen after listen, “Delirium and destiny” tells the thin border between inner chaos and the need to move forward, between instinct and awareness. It is a song that speaks of fragility and resistance, of falls and rebirths, always maintaining a strong contemporary rock identity. To further embellish the song, also the guitars in the studio Phil Palmerlegendary international session man (Dire Straits, Lucio Battisti), whose contribution adds further technical prestige and a strong rock feel to the production: «A pair of guitarists that would be the envy of the best bands currently active – the singer-songwriter smiles – the lyrics of the song are deliberately disengaged: a tribute to the freedom and boldness typical of rock’n’roll imagery».
Giulio Marchetti’s artistic journey began in 2008, when he debuted in poetry with the collection “The dream of life” (Novi Ligure, 2008), which was followed by “Energy of the void” (Puntoacapo Editrice, 2010) and “The dark night” (2012). He subsequently published “Specchi ciechi” (Puntoacapo Editrice, 2020), “Varco cielo” (2023) and “30 e lode” (2024). Alongside poetry, thanks to which he also won several prizesan important role in Marchetti’s artistic growth can be attributed to his projects such as visual artist. His artistic production, suspended between irony and criticism, has seen him over the years denounce the contradictions and paradoxes of our time, as well as – among other things – reinterpreting the vision of Achille Lauro. The experiences gained and the friendships made over time, including the one with Riccardo Sinigallia (who signed the note in the book “Specchi ciechi”), then created the right moment for Giulio Marchetti to express himself through another form of art and get involved in music.
