Phil Collins doesn’t rule out a live return in the future

Although he is convinced of the decision not to want to perform during the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony scheduled for Los Angeles next November, Phil Collins does not rule out a possible live return in the future.

After already being inducted as a member of Genesis, this time the singer and drummer will join the Hall of Fame as a solo artist. However, in a new interview on “BBC Breakfast”, Collins revealed that he will not be performing at the event. When asked by host Charlotte Gallagher about a possible live performance during the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, the musician, who has been struggling with numerous health problems for some time, said:

“I can’t imagine that happening, but I’m better now than I’ve been in a long time. I mean, the people at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame asked me if I would want to perform and I said, ‘No’. Because to do something like that you have to be in tip-top shape. You have to rehearse, prepare, and at that point, if you haven’t sung for a while, your voice suffers. And that wouldn’t be a good thing, so I’d rather avoid it.”

During the interview, however, Collins left open the possibility of returning to performing live in some way, saying:

“But the idea of going back to performing live is something I would consider, yes. I keep telling myself that I should go back to my studio at home and start working again.”

The former Genesis then explained that he has a lot of material that could turn into new music, adding: “I have lots of ideas for lyrics that I’m jotting down, and there are things still half done and a couple already finished.”
