Spandau Ballet: the former singer sentenced to 14 years for rape

Ross Davidson, the former lead singer of Spandau Ballet (in which he used the pseudonym Ross Wild), was sentenced to 14 years in prison for rape and sexual assault, for events dating back to 2015 and 2019. Davidson, who performed with the band in 2018 replacing Tony Hadley, had been accused by four women of assault and rape.

It had been found on his phone a video dating back to December 2019 that depicted him sexually touching a woman without her consent while she slept, but the singer had pleaded not guilty to all charges of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault, claiming that the relationships were consensual and stating that he simply had a “positive attitude towards sex” and was “open to experimenting with different sexual preferences”. Another woman described being attacked in Thailand, claiming that Davidson had tried to rape her while she slept and that she had to “calmly convince him” to desist. She also said she was unaware of a video of her being assaulted by Davidson while she slept until police showed it to her in 2023.

Yesterday, April 30, Davidson appeared at Wood Green Crown Court and after more than 11 hours of deliberation he was found guilty of all charges and sentenced to 14 years in prison.
