Olivia Rodrigo mentions The Cure in the new single

“You know all the words to ‘Just Like Heaven’/ And I know why he wrote them now that you’re standing right here”: it is in this phrase from the new single “Drop dead” that Olivia renews her declaration of love for Robert Smith and the Cure with a reference to the song that the two sang together at Glastonbury in 2025.

Olivia Rodrigo and Robert Smith shared the stage at the Glastonbury festival in 2025, where they performed the Cure classics “Friday I’m in love” and “Just Like Heaven”. The recording of the performance was later included in her album “Live From Glastonbury 2025”. The two have remained in contact so much so that not long ago there was even talk of a studio collaboration – presumably for the new album “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love”, out on June 12th worldwide: ““He calls me quite often to talk about clothes and fashion. And we spent a couple of memorable nights in the studio together,” the singer said.

“I love this song! It’s the first chapter in the ‘You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ story and it makes me want to jump around, roll down the windows and kiss! I was lucky enough to shoot the music video at the Palace of Versailles a few months ago with the amazing Petra Collins and I’m really thrilled with the result. I hope you like it as much as I like it,” Olivia Rodrigo said of the song.
