Something is moving on the Aerosmith front

Despite the retirement from the scene officially announced in 2024, the future of Aerosmith may not be fully marked: the guitarist Joe Perry has hinted that, although large-scale concert activity is over, the band remains open to evaluating new projects.

The decision to stop touring was made following the serious injury suffered by Steven Tyler during the first dates of his farewell tour in 2023. The frontman had suffered a fractured larynx and serious damage to his vocal cords, conditions that had made it impossible to sustain the pace of a world tour.

After a year of forced rest necessary for vocal rehabilitation, Tyler returned to performing selected contextsas charity events and, last July, in the celebratory concert Back to the Beginning by Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, providing a vocal performance considered solid by the experts.

2025 also marked a recording comeback for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band, resulting in the release of One More Timea collaborative EP made together with Yungblud.

Perry, however, reiterated the need for a extremely cautious approach:

The band is certainly not in a position to tour, but there are other options and we stay in touch. Steven has only started to feel comfortable with singing again in the last six months; he had to stop completely for a year and the risk of relapse is constant.

The interview highlights a new awareness within the group regarding their own longevity. Perry described Aerosmith’s current reality as “fragile,” stressing the importance of taking things day by day without pushing Tyler’s recovery time. Although the scale of major tours seems to be a thing of the past, the chemistry between the members and the singer’s recovery suggest that the band’s final chapter has not yet been definitively written.
