Litfiba, historic reunion at the May Day Concert
The lights come on on Piazza San Giovanni in Rome, but this time the reflection that shines is that of rock. While waiting for the Concert on May Day 2026 is starting to make itself heard, the first names that will warm up the stage are leaked out, and the announcement already has an epic flavor: the Litfiba they come back together for a unique event.
It won’t be just any reunion. For the occasion, the band will present itself in its own historic formation of the 80s (never before been on the Concertone stage), lining up Piero Pelù, Ghigo Renzulli, Antonio Aiazzi and Gianni Maroccolo. The reason for this return to the origins is an anniversary that shakes the foundations of Italian music: the forty years of “17 Kings”. Released in 1986 as the second chapter of the “Trilogy of Power”, that album was not only a turning point for the Florentine group, but a poetic and sonic earthquake that consecrated Italian rock throughout Europe.
The performance on the Concertone stage will be just a taste of what will become the “Forty Years of 17 Kings” tour. During the summer of 2026, the band will bring the power and visionary energy of those years to the most important cities and festivals in Italy, rekindling emotions that seemed suspended in time.
But music, as per tradition, will not travel alone. Under the artistic direction of Massimo Bonelli, the May Day promoted by CGIL, CISL and UIL will take on new social meanings. The chosen theme for this year it looks to the future: “Decent work: bargaining, new protections and new rights for an Italy that is changing in the era of artificial intelligence”.
