The new Rolling Stones vinyl is already a cult object
We were just talking yesterday about the new, ingenious marketing operation of the Rolling Stones: a new single, “Rough and twisted”, released under the pseudonym “The Cockroaches” and released only on 12″ vinyl, with a very limited edition, in selected record stores around the world. Well: those who want it and haven’t had time to rush to one of these points of sale will have to shell out considerable sums to get it.
The iconic white album of “Rough and twisted” can be found online – on eBay, for example – for hundreds of dollars. This user has opened an auction which, at the moment, already exceeds 660 dollars (around 570 euros), and according to the site the item is already observed by hundreds of people.
This, however, also offers the poster as well as the album, for the modest (current) sum of 1299 pounds (almost 1500 euros). The point is clear: the marketing operation was very successful and it has already taken off among fans and collectors the FOMO effect (Fear of Missing Outfear and social anxiety of being excluded from experiences and events).
