Paul McCartney, new album is coming

Was Paul McCartney really banned from Reddit?

In the past few hours, Paul McCartney’s official account on Reddit, available at this link, was temporarily banned. The reason appears to have had to do with the publication by the profile dedicated to the former Beatle of photo of his concert to invite fans to “don’t forget to tag Paul on social media” in content related to the shows at Fonda Theater in Los Angeles on March 27 and 28.

After the second of the two concerts in the 1,200-seat venue, McCartney’s Reddit account, which had been inactive for a long time, was reactivated to post pictures of the event in his “Subreddit”or specific “communities” within the platform, dedicated to a particular topic, hobby or interest. The intent of Macca, or of whoever manages the account for him, was to share contents of the shows at Fonda with users, given that it was a question of events where the use of telephones was prohibited. As evidenced by a screenshot also taken on other social platforms, such as X/Twitter, Paul McCartney had published a post on Reddit writing: “I hope you enjoyed last night’s show. Since it was a phone-free experience, we wanted to make sure you had some memories of the concert to share with friendsfamily and loved ones.” Along with the message, a Dropbox link was shared, giving fans access to a series of photographs and inviting them to share them on social media with the hashtag #PaulRocksTheFonda. Subsequently, McCartney’s Reddit account was “banned” and the thread with the link to the photos was then removed.

The account, believed to be managed by his team, was however later restored and a Reddit administrator clarified what happened by writing under a post with the band’s screenshot:

“Hi everyone! Just to clarify: the account was never banned from the site (or the subreddit); it was a technical error that made it appear banned. The issue has now been resolved. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience caused to the moderation team!”

The Reddit platform had been widely used in 2020 to promote McCartney’s latest studio album, when the artist participated in a question and answer session with fans for “McCartney III” via his dedicated channel. Now the former Beatle is ready to release a new album on May 29th new study work“The Boys Of Dungeon Lane”, announced last March 26th together with the single “Days We Left Behind”, and before the concerts at the Fonda which marked his first lives after the conclusion of the “Got Back Tour”.
