Grateful Dead, goodbye to Bob Weir

John Mayer threw a listening party for the Grateful Dead

John Mayer has organized a listening party dedicated to the Grateful Dead to honor Bob Weirthe singer and guitarist of the Californian band passed away due to cancer on January 10th at the age of 78.

Mayer, who he played with Bob Weir in the Dead & Companyhe posted on Instagram in which he explained that he had listened to the music of Grateful Dead in the days following Weir’s death to find comfort, but that he felt even more alone, which pushed him to organize this event. “In the days after Bobby Weir passed, I tried to listen to Grateful Dead music for comfort. I found it harder than I thought. I felt like I was listening alone, as if the central system that connects everyone who listens at any given moment had gone offline. (Apparently, a presence like Bobby’s creates an immeasurable absence.) After talking with like-minded friends, I knew I wanted to throw a Grateful Dead Listening Party.”

“also talking a little about each of them. It’s a way for those who have felt lost to ‘meet’ and listen to music together. It won’t be a live concert, but I’ll follow you. Sometimes the least you can do is also the most you can do… we’ll find a way out.”
