Lola Young’s first concert after the break
Lola Young returned to the stage last night, Wednesday 4 March: the concert at the London Palladium in London was the first headlining performance of 2026 for the singer, who last year had to cancel the tour due to exhaustion, after collapsing on stage in New York, and had announced a break from all commitments to focus on her mental health.
“Playing live is everything to me, and asking my fans to support me after the cancellation of the tour is not something I take for granted. I can’t please all the previously sold ticket holders, but I hope that in the future, with bigger concerts, the fans will continue to follow me,” he said on stage, saying he was “so back”. The show closed with “Messy”, defined as “the song that changed my life. You continue to change mine every day”.
The singer then shared a note with fans, announcing plans to release new music
“Six months ago everything was at a standstill for me. I knew I had to deal with some things and take some time, and with that came a lot of insecurity about my career. I was really afraid that I might miss my moment, a moment that I had been working towards for over 10 years. So this is a huge moment of validation for me.”
When things get dark and I’m unwell, knowing that I can still come back is incredibly rewarding. More rewarding than any award- I love you and can’t wait to release new music and continue this journey with you by my side
After the New York episode he reassured fans on Instagram by saying he was “fine”, but then also canceled the Washington DC date at the All Things Go Festival. He was due to embark on a UK tour in the autumn but had chosen to put everything on hold “for the foreseeable future” to focus on his mental health. The return to the stage in London is not an isolated event: on March 12th he will be at SXSW in Austin, on March 15th he will also perform at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party and on March 16th for a real concert at the Orpheum in Los Angeles.
