Sanremo, Chiello: We didn’t meet up with Morgan, my decision

Until now Chiello had remained silent: one of the controversies that had preceded the festival concerned the presence of Morgan, who on the covers evening was to accompany him in “I fell in love with you” by Luigi Tenco. Only to then back out: “Having done the rehearsals made one thing emerge: my presence was too cumbersome and the effect was counterproductive for him”, the singer said, underlining a difference in status.
Instead, according to Chiello, things went differently: he stopped by the Rockol Lounge today and explained to us: “I have to say that I respect Morgan as an artist, but when we rehearsed and met we didn’t find each other on a personal level, so I decided not to simply bring him. We didn’t find each other. It was my decision”, he explains.
In his place: “Saverio Cigarini will come, who is a musician of the Madonna, I respect him a lot and he will certainly rock”.

The Sanremo song and instinct

Talking “I always think of you”the song in the competition, Chiello says he chose it following more instinct than a precise strategy. “It seemed to me to be the least distorted, although in reality it is distorted a little. I didn’t decide immediately: while I was writing it I didn’t know that it was the song for Sanremo. Then, putting it with the others on the album as a whole, it seemed the right one. But I couldn’t tell you exactly why, it’s a question of sensations.”
On the Ariston stage he will bring one of the few songs with guitars in this edition. “Guitars rock, everyone should use them”, he comments lightly. And he also underlines the emotion of playing with the orchestra: “It’s the first time I’ve played with the orchestra, it’s a great feeling, I like it a lot.”

Work with Tommaso Ottomano

In the album “Agonia” released on March 20th and in the recent path, the collaboration with Tommaso Ottomano is central. “It was born about five or six years ago. At the beginning we started collaborating on the video part, because he is also a director. Then we went to the studio, we got to know each other better, we really became friends.
Chiello never considered the idea of bringing Ottomano to Sanremo: “I didn’t really consider it as a thing. However, he has his own project, he’s an artist. I wanted to get in there and play with the orchestra”.
