Radiohead: new music remains an unknown
After seven years of silenceRadiohead’s live return was by no means a given. To say it is Johnny Greenwoodwho in a new interview with TheTelegraph he admitted that he was surprised by how much the band appreciated the reunion tour which took place between November and December 2025. Five European cities (here is our review of Bologna), sets in the round, over 60 songs in rotation: more than a celebration, a deep immersion in their history. Greenwood talks about the pleasure of rediscovering songs that the group has always felt were “right” and of perceiving how today they are finally recognized by the public too. But above all he underlines a human element: “It was really nice to play and listen again Thom Yorke“. At the same time, however, he confesses an alienating feeling: that of being on tour without working on anything new.
And this is where the question of new music remains suspended. Radiohead’s latest album, “A Moon Shaped Pool”, dates back to 2016, and today each member is busy on parallel projects. Greenwood doesn’t deny anything, but he doesn’t promise anything: “I’m already surprised that the tour happened and that we liked it so much…”. Even a possible new tour, he explains, would require immediate decisions and a very long time. In short, Radiohead’s return was not a nostalgic revival but a verification: of the strength of the catalogue, of the internal chemistry, of the very sense of getting back together. New music remains possible, but not necessary. And perhaps this is precisely their true luxury today.
