What’s on the “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” soundtrack

Renewed mixes of iconic live performances, remixes and medleys of the classics: the soundtrack of “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” is a must-have album for lovers of the king of rock’n’roll. The album will be released in digital and CD format by Legacy Recordings (the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment) and RCA Records this Friday, February 20th, coinciding with the cinema debut of the Baz Luhrmann-directed film of the same name, which Rockol previewed. From April 24th the soundtrack – presave and pre-order here – will also be available on a double LP, with two color variants (black and Translucent Orange and Yellow exclusively on Amazon).

While making his 2022 film “Elvis,” Luhrmann and his team have discovered negatives and footage long hidden in Warner Brothers vaults, originally filmed for the “Elvis: The way it is” documentaries (who tells his story residency show in Las Vegas in August 1970) and “Elvis on tour” (filmed during 1972 concerts across the United States), as well as previously unreleased 8mm footage and never-before-heard audio of Elvis recounting his life. Luhrmann and his team spent years restoring this material, collaborating with Jonathan Redmond, Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production and many others. What was revealed about Elvis, beyond his iconic and inimitable energy as a performer, was the man behind the myth, «totally at ease on stage, capable of feeling the true love of his fans and communicating himself with an intimacy and humanity, like no other artist»explains Luhrmann himself. Rregarding the inspiration for the new medleys and remixes of the album, the director stated: «We constantly wondered: What would Elvis do if he were here today? How could he experiment, where could he go? He was always a musical explorer, searching for different flavors and sounds».

Among the unreleased songs is a medley of four Elvis classics entitled “Wearin’ that night life look”, which brings together “Wearin’ that loved on look”, “Night life”, “I, John”, “Let yourself): è born to «create a completely new song from Elvis’ DNA», as imagined by the director and executive producer of the soundtrack Luhrmann and the film’s music producer Jamieson Shaw.

Also unreleased are the remixes of “Love me” And “In the ghetto“, edited by Jamieson Shaw. I Pnauthe Australian musical trio of indie rock and dance-pop music, composed of Nick Littlemore, Peter Mayes and Sam Littlemore, known to most for having produced “Cold heart” by Dua Lipa and Elton John in 2021, have instead remixed “Don’t fly away“.
