The video for “Streets of Minneapolis”, the Springsteen song

A “new” version of “Streets of Minneapolis” for Springsteen

“We were on a break!”, posted a beloved podcast of Springsteen fans, quoting one of the most famous lines from “Friends”: it was supposed to be a period of calm and pause for Springsteen and his men, after the binge of 2025 (Tour, two boxes of unreleased songs, the film…). Instead it began with the publication of “Street of Minneapolis”, continued with the announcement of the “Live from Asbury Park 2024” box, a live album containing the recording of the rocker’s historic performance in his hometown, on September 15, 2024, scheduled for Record Store Day. And it could be just the beginning.

Of course, “Street of Minneapolis” was born out of an emergency: written, recorded and released in three days to respond to the ICE killings in the Minnesota capital. But in the meantime, in recent days and 3 weeks after its release on the platforms, Springsteen has released a new version, a “Radio mix” which has taken the place of the previous version on Springsteen’s platforms, and which was edited by Bob Clearmountain – the Boss’ historic collaborator. This is a slightly cleaner and more refined version, with some tweaks (the addition of a rhythm guitar in the background).

In the meantime, however, another rumor is going around – and we report it to you as such, knowing that it is valid for what it is: in the fan forums there is talk of an announcement soon, which could be that of a new album. A good portion of fans jump in wishful thinking of various kinds – what is certain is that Springsteen on some occasions has said that he has an album ready. But as the “Lost albums” demonstrate, this is not synonymous with publication because plans change rapidly and many of these works are destined to remain in the drawer or resurface at the most opportune moments. And certainly the angry Springsteen of the last year is very different even from the more thoughtful one of a year ago. In short, as usual, a bit of “little faith” is needed, to quote one of his most famous songs. Meanwhile, here is the “new” version of “Street of Minneapolis”
