Yes, the deluxe edition of the album “Close to the Edge” is coming
Next March 7th Yes will release a Super Deluxe Edition of the 1972 classic “Close to the Edge” (read it here review). The five-CD/LP/Blu-ray set will include a newly remastered version of the original album, the band’s fifth, as well as previously unreleased rarities. It will also contain, for the first time, new mixes of Steven Wilson in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Mix DTS-HD MA.

“‘Close to the Edge’ is Yes’ most miraculous album,” he says
Steve Howe
in a press release. “It contains our first 20-minute epic, the blueprint for many large-scale tracks that followed, accompanied by two 10-minute tracks, similarly recorded with the utmost musical and technical integrity. Recording ‘Fragile’ was a experience that allowed us to make ‘Close to the Edge’, the album that defined Yes’ career.”
In addition to the remastered album on CD, Blu-ray and vinyl, the Super Deluxe Edition of
“Close to the Edge”
includes discs of remixes and instrumentals by Wilson and rarities such as the cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s 1972 single “America”, the single version of “And You and I” and the B-side edit of the second side of “Close to the Edge” “, “Total Mass Retain”. The box set also includes a live show at London’s Rainbow Theater on 16 December 1972, three months after the album’s release. It includes all three songs from “Close to the Edge,” along with songs from “Fragile” (“Roundabout”) and “The Yes Album” (“I’ve Seen All Good People”).
