Talking about reaching first place by
“XMAS”
,
Kylie Minogue
said: “It’s hard to put into words how special it is. Being in first place at Christmas really is the best gift! I’m so grateful to everyone who listened to me and I wish everyone a very happy Christmas!”
Speaking about the song with the English magazine NME he explained. “It’s been amazing. As with all songs, once they come out all you want is for them to have a life of their own. So now it’s quite strange and amazing to have people dancing to ‘XMAS’. I think it’s going to follow me forever! I saw that a whole village in Devon made a video of them dancing to ‘XMAS’ together… it made me really emotional. To see that it’s had an impact on people and that it means something to them… It’s amazing.”
The omnipresent
“Last Christmas”
of the
Wham!
which has topped the Christmas charts for the past two years, narrowly missed the mark this time, placing second.
